Glimpse of Lankan Heritage: Overview

This four-night tour is designed to reveal an insight to the cultural heritage of Sri Lanka. Tour begins with a relaxing night to recover from the jetlag at a hotel in Negombo within a short drive from the Airport.

Next two nights in the heritage capital in the north central part of Sri Lanka will cover Pollonnaruwa – the 2nd capital city of ancient Sri Lanka and Sigiriya Rock Fortress – A Palace built in 5th century BC on top of a gigantic column of rock, rising up 200 meters. Both these sites are declared as world heritage sites by UNESCO. Visit to Minneriya National park in between your visits to the ancient cities will give a glimpse of wildlife prior to your departure to Colombo for the final night.

Day 01

COLOMBO AIRPORT – KANDY THE CITY OF HILLS

On arrival at Colombo International Airport, you will be met by our representative and will be transferred to to Sigiriya/Dambulla the cultural centre of Sri Lanka.

En-route visit the DAMBULLA CAVE TEMPLE. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka and is adorned with paintings and sculptures.

Overnight stay  in Dambulla/Sigiriya.

Day 02

CITY OF POLLONNARUWA & MINNERIYA NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast commence your tour by driving to ANCIENT CITY OF POLLONNARUWA.  

Travel to the ANCIENT CITY OF POLONNARUWA, yet another one of Sri Lanka’s UNESCO World Heritage site. Visit the many ruins scattered across the city including the Royal Citadel, the audience hall, the Vatadage temple, Relic chambers, Kovils and statues carved out of stone.

After lunch drive to either MINNERIYA/KAUDULLA NATIONAL PARK . Your visit to Sri Lanka is not complete without seen Sri Lankan elephant in the wild to catch a glimpse of the big eared tubby giants. Depending on the period of travel you would be able to witness the largest Asian elephant gathering known to exist on the planet

Overnight Stay in Dambulla/Sigiriya.

Day 03

SIGIRIYA ROCK FORTRESS

After breakfast visit SIGIRIYA ROCK FORTRESS the gigantic column of rock, rising up 200 meters (660ft) into the heavens was once a royal palace a top the rock. It is today another UNESCO World Heritage Site. The spectacular Sigiriya (Lion Rock) rock fortress was built in the 5th century AD and it is a wonder of ancient engineering, art and culture.

 

 Walk around the landscaped pleasure gardens with its moats, man-made ponds and fountains, considered a hydraulic marvel of the past. Make a grand entrance through the massive lion’s paws carved out of stone and climb up 1200 steps all the way to the top where a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape awaits those who dare to make it.

 

Overnight stay  in Sigiriya/Dambulla.

Day 04

COLOMBO BUSINESS CAPITAL

After breakfast proceeds to Colombo the business capital of Sri Lanka. 

On arrival to Colombo the business capital of Sri Lanka undertake a city tour to witness the change in sky line of Colombo.

Evening sit out at Old Dutch Hospital area the most happening street just outside your hotel and enjoy a cool beer with friends.

Overnight stay  in Colombo.

Day 05

COLOMBO – AIRPORT

After breakfast relax and enjoy the comforts of the hotel.

 

Your guide will meet you on time at the lobby to drive you to the Colombo International Airport for your departing flight home.

 

End of a relaxing tour.
